Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of dj-fy. By creating an account or joining a party, you agree to them.

Last updated: 6 August 2026

Who you are contracting with

dj-fy is operated by dj-fy, Denmark (“we”, “us”). Questions about these terms: [email protected].

What dj-fy does

dj-fy lets a host open a shared music queue for an event. Guests join through a link or QR code, add songs and vote on them, and the most-voted song is played next through the host's own Spotify account.

dj-fy does not stream, host, store or supply any music. It only tells your Spotify account which track to play next. All music is delivered by Spotify under your own agreement with them.

What you need to use it

  • Hosts need a dj-fy account, a Spotify Premium subscription (Spotify only permits remote playback control on Premium), and their own free Spotify developer application, which you create during setup.
  • Guests need nothing but a web browser and the party link — no account, no app, no payment.

You are responsible for keeping your login details and your Spotify app credentials confidential, and for everything that happens under your account.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use dj-fy for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or impersonate anyone;
  • choose nicknames, party names or content that are offensive, hateful, or infringe someone else's rights;
  • attempt to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or circumvent plan limits;
  • use the service in a way that breaches Spotify's own terms of service or developer policy.

Hosts control their own party: you choose whether guests pick from a playlist or all of Spotify, whether they may skip songs, and how many songs each guest can queue. You are responsible for the music played at your event, including any public performance licensing that may be required if your event is not private.

We may suspend or remove any account or party that breaches these terms, without notice where necessary.

Plans and payment

  • The free plan lets guests pick from a playlist you choose, with a limited number of guests and a limited queue length.
  • The Party Pass costs $5 and unlocks all-of-Spotify search, an unlimited queue and a higher guest limit for 5 days from purchase.
  • The Party Pass is a one-off purchase, not a subscription. It does not renew automatically and nothing is charged again unless you buy another pass.

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout and may include applicable taxes. Plan limits may change over time; any change applies to future purchases, never to a pass you have already bought.

Right of withdrawal and refunds

As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. Because the Party Pass gives you immediate access to the paid features, you expressly request that we begin performance right away and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the pass has been activated, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Directive.

This does not affect your statutory rights if the service is faulty. If your pass does not work as described, contact [email protected] and we will fix it or refund you.

Availability

dj-fy is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features.

The service depends on Spotify's API. If Spotify changes, restricts or withdraws that access, or if your Spotify account, device or subscription prevents playback control, parts of dj-fy may stop working through no fault of ours.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost data, or a party that does not go to plan. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Your content

Nicknames, party names and the song selections you make remain yours. You grant us the limited right to display and process them as needed to run the service — for example showing your nickname next to a song in the queue and on the party screen.

Termination

You may stop using dj-fy and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy, except records we must keep for accounting purposes. An unused Party Pass is not refunded on account deletion.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service develops. The date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be communicated to registered hosts by email. Continuing to use dj-fy after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, and disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the Danish courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
